Energetic Floe Sky

Greek energētikós, active — derived from energeia (activity). As a color modifier, energetic implies a saturated-and-kinetic-and-active quality where the hue carries visual vibration and movement-suggestion that engages the eye dynamically. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to dynamic and spirited in usage.

Norwegian flo, layer-of-sea-ice. As a color modifier, floe implies a sea-ice-floe-and-Arctic-pack quality, the visual register of Arctic-pack-and-Greenland-Sea-floe hand-sea-ice-floe-and-Arctic-pack Arctic-pack-and-Greenland-Sea-floe-and-Northwest-Passage floe-and-sea-ice-floe surfaces under Arctic-pack-and-Greenland-Sea-floe-and-Northwest-Passage Greenland-and-Svalbard-and-Northwest-Passage Arctic-pack-light. Sits at the modifier-and-weather end of the grid, parallel to berg and icicle in usage.

The blue of a clear sky at noon — produced by Rayleigh scattering, the preferential dispersion of shorter wavelengths through atmospheric molecules. Air itself is colorless; the color we see is sunlight scattered toward our eyes by every cubic kilometer above. The reference shade is mid-latitude noon under a high pressure system: a clean, slightly green-shifted blue with the luminous depth of light scattered across an entire hemisphere of air.
