Electric Hauyne
Electric Hauyne (#1CF2D0) is a true teal with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (170°, 89%, 53%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
From the Greek elektron, amber — the substance whose static-electric properties were observed by Thales of Miletus. Used as a color modifier since the late nineteenth century after electric light made certain saturated colors feel attention-demanding. Electric blue, electric pink: the implication is hot luminance combined with optical impact. Sits at the bright-bucket extreme.
A blue-to-green variety of the lazurite mineral group — used in classical Egyptian and Mesoamerican blue pigments and modern fine jewelry. The color refers to a polished hauyne specimen: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the matte finish of sodium-aluminum silicate.
