Awakening Ammolite
Awakening Ammolite (#1ACC85) is a true teal with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Its HSL profile (156°, 77%, 45%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old English āwacnian, to awaken — present-participle of awaken. As a color modifier, awakening implies a saturated-and-rousing-and-fresh quality, the bright color of spring-dawn and first-light atmospheric-stimulation. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to quickening and rousing in usage.
The fossilized iridescent shell of Placenticeras ammonites — mined principally from the Bearpaw Formation in southern Alberta, Canada. The color refers to a polished ammolite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored ancient nacre.
