Murky Pickle
Murky Pickle (#1A2D04) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Etymology
From Old Norse myrkr, darkness — sharing root with mirkwood. Murky implies low value combined with reduced clarity — the deep brown-greens of pond water, the dim interior of a smoke-blackened bar. Sits at the deep-and-dirtied end of the grid, where the color is both dark and slightly clouded.
A vinegar-cured or lacto-fermented cucumber — the brining process turns the bright green of a fresh cuke into a slightly muted gray-green as the chlorophyll degrades. The color refers to a deli kosher-dill in cross-section: a soft, slightly muted yellow-green with the slight translucency of cell walls breached by acid. Drabber than fresh cucumber, more chromatic than celadon, with the kitchen-shorthand reach of an everyday word.
