Shaded Moegi (#194E0B) is a deep green with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Etymology
Old English sceadwian, to cover with shadow — past-participle of shade. As a color modifier, shaded implies a hue darkened by overhead-foliage-or-architectural-element occlusion in pre-modern garden-and-courtyard tradition. Sits at the deep-and-obscured end of the grid, parallel to shadowy but more architectural in connotation.
Japanese for sprouting yellow — the yellow-green of Carex sedge sprouts and rice seedlings. Moegi-iro is one of the seasonal colors of the Heian-period kasane layered-kimono palette, worn during the spring planting season. The color refers to fresh moegi sprouts in a paddy: a saturated, slightly yellow yellow-green with the matte finish of small fresh leaves.
