Twilit Pesto
Twilit Pesto (#171F01) is a deep lime with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (76°, 94%, 6%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. An adjectival form of twilight, coined in the late nineteenth century. Twilit describes a color seen at twilight — the slight cooling and desaturation that low ambient light introduces. Sits in the deep-and-cool corner, lighter than somber and bluer than shadowed. Almost exclusively literary.
The Italian basil-and-pine-nut sauce — pesto alla genovese of Liguria — made from fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic, parmigiano, and olive oil. The color refers to fresh-pounded pesto in a marble mortar: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow-green with the matte finish of pureed basil-and-oil.
