Shielded Polypody
Shielded Polypody (#15A005) is a deep green with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (114°, 94%, 32%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English scild, shield — past-participle of shield, sharing root with German Schild. The genus Polypodium — small evergreen ferns that grow on rocks and tree branches in temperate forests. The color refers to mature P. vulgare fronds: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow-green with the satin finish of small persistent fern leaves.
