Primal Specularite
Primal Specularite (#15062A) is a deep indigo with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (265°, 75%, 9%) places it in the balanced band at a dark lightness. It works well as a headline, icon, or deep background in an otherwise light layout, pairing cleanly with cream, bone, and warm neutrals. Latin prīmālis, first — adjectival suffix -al, derived from prīmus (first). Specular hematite, a metallic-gray-to-deep-black variety of Fe₂O₃ — used in the prehistoric Lake Superior copper-mining culture for ceremonial pigment and cosmetics. Specularite color refers to a freshly mined Marquette Range specularite ore-block face: a saturated, slightly cool deep black with the metallic finish of platy-cleavage hematite ore.
