From the Cimmerians of Homer's Odyssey — a legendary people who dwelled at the western edge of the world in perpetual darkness. The genus Hepatica — liverwort flower, European-and-North-American spring-blooming perennials with saturated deep-blue flowers among the earliest to bloom in temperate forests.
