Eclipsed Glaucium (#0F2A81) is a deep blue with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (226°, 79%, 28%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek ékleipsis, abandonment — past-participle of eclipse. As a color modifier, eclipsed implies the deep occulting darkness of a celestial-body-blocked light-source, where umbral-and-penumbral shadows fall on the hue. Sits at the deep-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to occluded with astronomical connotation.
The genus Glaucium — horned poppy, Mediterranean coastal-dune annuals with silver-blue foliage and yellow or orange flowers. The genus name traces to the same Greek glaukos as glauque (gray-blue-green). The color refers to mature Glaucium flavum foliage: a soft, slightly cool deep silver-blue with the matte finish of waxy-cuticled coastal-dune leaf.
