Rural Sheol
Rural Sheol (#0E0220) is a deep indigo with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (264°, 88%, 7%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin rūrālis, of-the-countryside — adjectival suffix -al. Sheol color refers to a 12th-century Mahzor manuscript's deep-shadow Sheol illumination panel: a saturated, slightly cool deep black with the matte finish of iron-gall ink and lampblack pigment on hand-prepared parchment.
