Eclipsed Tahoe (#0D2A75) is a deep azure with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Greek ékleipsis, abandonment — past-participle of eclipse. As a color modifier, eclipsed implies the deep occulting darkness of a celestial-body-blocked light-source, where umbral-and-penumbral shadows fall on the hue. Sits at the deep-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to occluded with astronomical connotation.
Lake Tahoe — the deep alpine lake on the California-Nevada border — known for its saturated deep-blue water and clarity (visibility to 21 meters). Tahoe refers to mid-depth Lake Tahoe water on a clear day: a saturated, slightly cool very deep blue with the optical clarity of cold-temperate alpine freshwater.
