Infernal Pennant
Infernal Pennant (#0A1A5A) is a deep blue with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (228°, 80%, 20%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Latin infernālis, of the lower realms — derived from infernus (underworld). As a color modifier, infernal implies the deep-glowing-furnace-darkness of Dante-Inferno-and-Bosch-tryptich infernal imagery, with the warm undertone of fire-light against shadow. Sits at the deep-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to hellish and warmer than Hadean.
A long triangular flag flown by warships — particularly the British Royal Navy commissioning pennant (a long blue-and-white streamer flown when a ship is in active commission). Pennant color refers to a fresh commissioning pennant: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of dyed flag bunting.
