Eclipsed Limonium (#0A1751) is a deep blue with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Greek ékleipsis, abandonment — past-participle of eclipse. As a color modifier, eclipsed implies the deep occulting darkness of a celestial-body-blocked light-source, where umbral-and-penumbral shadows fall on the hue. Sits at the deep-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to occluded with astronomical connotation.
The genus Limonium — sea-lavender or statice, salt-tolerant coastal-marsh perennials with sprays of papery blue, purple, or white flower heads. The color refers to a fresh L. latifolium in late summer: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-violet with the matte papery finish of dried-feeling flower heads.
