Buttoned cyan
Buttoned cyan (#089199) is a deep cyan with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Old French bouton, button — past-participle of button. As a color modifier, buttoned implies a clear-and-fastened-and-formal quality, the crisp color of Edwardian-period formal-attire fully-fastened-and-formally-dressed gentleman's-attire. From the Greek kyanos, deep blue, originally referring to the lapis-derived blue of antiquity. In modern usage, cyan is one of the four printing primaries (with magenta, yellow, and black) and an additive primary on screens. The color refers to a pure CMYK cyan tile: a saturated, clean blue-green with the optical brightness of an additive-color primary.
