Shaker Cassiterite

#070622
Notes

Shaker Cassiterite (#070622) is a deep blue with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (242°, 70%, 8%) places it in the balanced band at a dark lightness. It works well as a headline, icon, or deep background in an otherwise light layout, pairing cleanly with cream, bone, and warm neutrals. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary yellow. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Cassiterite
noun

SnO₂ tin-dioxide mineral — the principal ore of tin metal, mined since the Bronze Age at Cornwall in England and Banka in Indonesia. Cassiterite color refers to a freshly cleaved Cornish stannite tetragonal-prism crystal face: a saturated, slightly cool deep black with the adamantine finish of tetragonal-system tin-dioxide. The Greek genus name kassíteros (tin) gives Latin and English cassiterite.
