Stately Yangtze
Stately Yangtze (#0565B6) is a true azure with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. An adjectival form of state, condition of dignity. Used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for the deep saturated jewel tones of formal ceremony — the deep blue of a robes-of-state, the deep red of a state-banquet velvet. The Chinese Cháng Jiāng — the longest river in Asia and the third-longest in the world. Yangtze color refers to mid-depth Yangtze River water at the Three Gorges: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the optical complexity of glacier-fed Tibetan-Plateau-source river water.
