Kindled Maui
Kindled Maui (#04BE6E) is a true teal with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Old Norse kynda, to set on fire — past-participle of kindle. As a color modifier, kindled implies a saturated-and-newly-lit quality, the bright color of autumn-bonfire-and-stove-fire initial-combustion emission. Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to ignited and aflame in usage.
The Hawaiian island — and the saturated turquoise of Maui's Molokini Crater snorkeling-lagoon water. Maui refers to Molokini Crater at midday: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the optical clarity of cold Pacific water filtered through volcanic black-sand and white coral.
