Spangled Smeraldina (#02EBC2) is a true teal with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. As a color modifier, spangled implies a saturated-and-multi-point-reflective quality, the bright color of American-flag-stars and sequined-fabric metallic-disc-and-jewel-decoration. Sits at the bright-and-reflective end of the grid, parallel to glittering and sequined in usage.
The Italian diminutive of smeraldo — a literary and theatrical name (Smeraldina is the Commedia dell'arte servant character) for a soft pale emerald-green. The color refers to a smeraldina-dyed Venetian silk: a soft, slightly cool pale green with the satin finish of dyed silk. Lighter than smeraldo.
