Stately Atriplex
Stately Atriplex (#028E4F) is a deep teal with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. An adjectival form of state, condition of dignity. Used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for the deep saturated jewel tones of formal ceremony — the deep blue of a robes-of-state, the deep red of a state-banquet velvet. The genus Atriplex — saltbushes, the salt-tolerant gray-green shrubs of saline desert, beach, and salina habitats from California to Australia. The color refers to a clump of A. canescens in Mojave Desert: a soft, slightly cool silver-green with the matte finish of salt-encrusted leaf.
