Vaulted Hanada
Vaulted Hanada (#024D6C) is a deep cyan with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Old French voulte, vault via Latin volūta (rolled) — past-participle of vault. As a color modifier, vaulted implies the deep-and-architectural-and-Gothic quality of Salisbury-Cathedral-and-Chartres-Cathedral nave-vault overhead-stone-arched ceiling. Sits at the deep-and-architectural end of the grid, parallel to cavernous with cathedral-vault register.
Hanada-iro (縹色) — a traditional Japanese textile dye color, the saturated medium blue between asagi (light blue-green) and konjō (deep indigo). Used in samurai-period inner robes and Edo-period commoner clothing. The color refers to a hanada-dyed silk: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the satin finish of plant-and-mordant dye.
