Engulfed Fjord
Engulfed Fjord (#013E28) is a deep teal with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old French en-golfe, into-the-gulf — past-participle of engulf. As a color modifier, engulfed implies the deep-overwhelming-and-cool quality where the hue has been completely surrounded by darkness, like a small boat overtaken by Atlantic-ocean swells. Sits at the deep-and-overwhelmed end of the grid, parallel to submerged and suffocating.
The deep glacier-carved coastal inlets of Norway, Iceland, New Zealand, and Patagonia — formed during the Pleistocene as ice sheets retreated and seawater flooded the glacial valleys. Fjord color refers to mid-depth Norwegian fjord water at Geirangerfjord: a deep, slightly cool deep blue-green with the optical complexity of glacier-melt water mixed with cold seawater.
