Eclipsed Pennant
Eclipsed Pennant (#013070) is a deep azure with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Greek ékleipsis, abandonment — past-participle of eclipse. As a color modifier, eclipsed implies the deep occulting darkness of a celestial-body-blocked light-source, where umbral-and-penumbral shadows fall on the hue. Sits at the deep-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to occluded with astronomical connotation.
A long triangular flag flown by warships — particularly the British Royal Navy commissioning pennant (a long blue-and-white streamer flown when a ship is in active commission). Pennant color refers to a fresh commissioning pennant: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of dyed flag bunting.
