Strobing Bottle
Strobing Bottle (#00BA17) is a true green with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Etymology
Greek stróbos, whirling — present-participle of strobe. As a color modifier, strobing implies a saturated-and-pulse-flashing quality, the bright color of concert-strobe-light and photographic-strobe high-frequency-pulse light emission. Sits at the bright-and-flashing end of the grid, parallel to flashing and pulsating in usage.
The traditional dark green of European wine and beer bottles — produced by adding iron oxide to the glass batch to filter UV that would damage the contents. The color refers to a Riesling or Burgundy bottle held against the light: a deep, slightly blue-shifted green with the optical translucency of glass. Darker than spruce, cooler than forest, with the cellar weight of a color that's been protecting wine since the seventeenth century.
