Tracer Lapwing
Tracer Lapwing (#00A1F8) is a true azure with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Old French tracier, to trace — sharing root with English trace and track. As a color modifier, tracer implies a saturated-and-streak-of-light quality, the bright color of military-tracer-round and long-exposure-photography light-trail visual streak. The genus Vanellus — plover relatives — particularly V. vanellus (northern lapwing), whose males display iridescent blue-black plumage on back and crest. The color refers to a male northern lapwing in breeding plumage: a saturated, slightly cool dark blue-green with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored feathers.
