Orange
Orange (#FFA500) is a true amber with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Its HSL profile (39°, 100%, 50%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary azure. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel. The pure orange of CSS — R=255, G=165, B=0 — added to the HTML named-color set in CSS Level 2. The name itself traces back to the Sanskrit 'naranga' via Persian 'narang', following the fruit along the Silk Road before ever naming the color.
