Strobing Murasaki (#FF9AE5) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek stróbos, whirling — present-participle of strobe. As a color modifier, strobing implies a saturated-and-pulse-flashing quality, the bright color of concert-strobe-light and photographic-strobe high-frequency-pulse light emission. Sits at the bright-and-flashing end of the grid, parallel to flashing and pulsating in usage.
Japanese 紫, purple — historically the noble color of the Heian-period imperial court, derived from Lithospermum erythrorhizon (gromwell) root dye. Murasaki color refers to a Heian-period court silk kinu robe: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the silk luster of multi-bath gromwell-root dye. The word also names Murasaki Shikibu, author of The Tale of Genji (1010 CE).
