Ostentatious Morganite
Ostentatious Morganite (#FE9BDD) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (320°, 98%, 80%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin ostentātiōnis, display — adjectival suffix -ous, derived from ostendere (to show). As a color modifier, ostentatious implies a saturated-and-attention-demanding-and-elaborate quality, the bright color of Belle-Époque-and-Gilded-Age showy-luxury-display interior-decoration. Pink variety of the cyclosilicate beryl — first described from the San Piero in Campo deposits of Elba in 1911 and named for the financier J.P. Morgan. The color comes from manganese-and-cesium substitution. Morganite color refers to a faceted San Piero morganite gemstone: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the glassy finish of cesium-and-manganese-substituted beryl. Cooler and pinker than aquamarine.
