Manic Abricot
Manic Abricot (#FA8A32) is a true orange with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (26°, 95%, 59%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek manikós, raving / mad — sharing root with mania. As a color modifier, manic implies a saturated-and-overstimulated-and-extreme quality, the bright color of Andy-Warhol-and-Pop-Art late-Pop-Art repeated-and-multiplied portrait color schemes. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to hyper and frenetic in usage.
The French word for apricot — Prunus armeniaca, the stone fruit cultivated in the south of France for compote and tarte aux abricots. Abricot as a color refers to the inside of a sun-ripe Provençal apricot: a soft, slightly pink orange with the matte velvet finish of stone-fruit flesh. The French cousin of apricot.
