Vivid Coquille (#F991CE) is a soft magenta with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Etymology
From the Latin vividus, full of life — used as a color modifier since the late sixteenth century for hues that read as luminous and saturated. French coquille, shell — particularly the coquille Saint-Jacques (Pecten maximus, scallop shell) whose interior surface displays a deep-magenta-to-pink iridescent nacre. Coquille color refers to a freshly opened Pecten maximus shell-interior in raking light: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored aragonite-nacre. The shell is the heraldic symbol of Saint James of Compostela.
