Acidic Eudialyte
Acidic Eudialyte (#F78FDE) is a soft magenta with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (314°, 87%, 76%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Latin acidus, sour — adjectival suffix -ic, sharing root with acetic and acerbic. As a color modifier, acidic implies a saturated-and-citric-and-sour quality, the bright color of lime-zest-and-pickled-lime citrus-fruit pulp surface. Sits at the bright-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to acid and electric in usage.
Rare zirconium-cyclosilicate first described from Greenland's Ilímaussaq Complex in 1819. The mineral's deep-raspberry-pink color comes from manganese substitution in the cyclosilicate ring sites. Eudialyte color refers to a polished Ilímaussaq eudialyte cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the glassy finish of complex zirconium-sodium-cyclosilicate. The Greek genus name eu-dialytos means easily decomposed in acid.
