Spangled Knossos
Spangled Knossos (#F38FDE) is a soft magenta with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Middle Dutch spange, clasp / metal-disc — past-participle of spangle. As a color modifier, spangled implies a saturated-and-multi-point-reflective quality, the bright color of American-flag-stars and sequined-fabric metallic-disc-and-jewel-decoration. Minoan Cretan palace-complex (occupied c. 1900–1370 BCE) — the legendary court of King Minos and a major Bronze-Age Tyrian purple production center supplying the Aegean trade network. Knossos color refers to a Knossos-period Minoan purpura-dyed fresco border: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath Hexaplex trunculus shellfish dye on lime-plaster wall painting.
