Holographic Kakishibu
Holographic Kakishibu (#F16DAA) is a true magenta with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (332°, 83%, 69%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek hólos (whole) and graphé (writing) — adjectival suffix -ic. As a color modifier, holographic implies a saturated-and-multi-angle-shifting quality, the bright color of holographic-credit-card and trading-card dichroic-film 3D-image-reflection. Sits at the bright-and-shifting end of the grid, parallel to iridescent and prismatic in usage.
The fermented juice of unripe persimmons — used in Japan since the Kamakura period as a wood preservative, paper sizing, and textile dye. Kakishibu deepens with age and sun exposure to a rich brick-red on washi paper or fabric. The color refers to fully cured kakishibu on a sunblind: a soft, slightly muted red-brown with the warmth of tannin oxidation. Drier than rust, more orange than maroon.
