Radiant Trogon
Radiant Trogon (#EF9EF9) is a soft violet with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (293°, 88%, 80%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary green. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
From the Latin radiare, to emit rays — used as a color word since the seventeenth century for hues that read as luminous and emitting. Radiant gold, radiant pink: the implication is high luminance combined with the optical impression of an outward light. Sits in the bright-bucket center alongside glowing.
Central- and South-American Trogon family — particularly the violaceous trogon (Trogon violaceus) of Amazonian-rainforest canopies, whose breeding-plumage males have iridescent deep-violet head-and-breast plumage. Trogon color refers to a Trogon violaceus male's breast feather field: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored feather barbs over melanin substrate.
