Torrid Loquat
Torrid Loquat (#EE6129) is a true orange with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Latin torridus, parched / scorching — sharing root with torrēre (to dry by heat). Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to scorching and fiery in usage.
Eriobotrya japonica, the East Asian rosaceous fruit — cultivated in China, Japan, and southern Europe for its slightly tart yellow-orange drupes. The color refers to a ripe Mediterranean loquat in May: a soft, slightly red yellow-orange with the satin finish of stone-fruit flesh. Lighter than apricot, cooler than tangerine.
