Radiant Pallium
Radiant Pallium (#EC8FE9) is a soft violet with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (302°, 71%, 74%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. Etymology
From the Latin radiare, to emit rays — used as a color word since the seventeenth century for hues that read as luminous and emitting. Radiant gold, radiant pink: the implication is high luminance combined with the optical impression of an outward light. Sits in the bright-bucket center alongside glowing.
Roman cloak — and the medieval pallium of the Pope, a deep-violet wool stole worn as a Petrine symbol of papal authority. Pallium color refers to a 12th-century Lateran-period papal pallium: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath Tyrian shellfish-dye on hand-spun ecclesiastical wool. The Latin word pallium also gave English pall and palliative.
