Electric Sodiumlight (#EBAB21) is a true amber with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Its HSL profile (41°, 83%, 53%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
From the Greek elektron, amber — the substance whose static-electric properties were observed by Thales of Miletus. Used as a color modifier since the late nineteenth century after electric light made certain saturated colors feel attention-demanding. Electric blue, electric pink: the implication is hot luminance combined with optical impact. Sits at the bright-bucket extreme.
The amber light produced by sodium-vapor street lamps — the dominant nighttime urban color from the 1950s through the early 2000s, before LED retrofits. The color refers to a sodium-lit suburban street at night: a saturated, slightly red-shifted deep amber with the slight monochromaticity of sodium-D-line emission.
