Chalky Spirulina
Chalky Spirulina (#E3FFE7) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
An adjectival form of chalk — used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for hues with the matte finish of chalk pigment. Chalky white, chalky blue: low saturation combined with the optical mattness of micron-scale calcium carbonate. Sits at the pale-bucket alongside powder and dusty.
Arthrospira platensis, the cyanobacterium harvested from alkaline lakes since the time of the Aztecs and now sold globally as a nutritional supplement and natural food coloring. The color refers to fresh-dried spirulina powder in a small bowl: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the matte finish of dehydrated cyanobacterial cells. Cooler than algae.
