Electrifying Haldi (#DE840C) is a true orange with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (34°, 90%, 46%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek ēléktron, amber — present-participle of electrify, named after the static-electricity property of rubbed amber. As a color modifier, electrifying implies a saturated-and-shocking-and-active quality, the bright color of Tesla-coil high-voltage atmospheric-discharge emission. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to charged and neon in usage.
The Hindi word for turmeric — the South Asian spice and ceremonial pigment used in Hindu haldi pre-wedding rituals and in gor-haldi (turmeric milk). The color refers to fresh haldi paste applied to skin in a wedding ritual: a saturated, slightly red-shifted yellow with the dusty finish of fresh-ground rhizome. Warmer than turmeric.
