Mapped Curry
Mapped Curry (#DCECAA) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (75°, 63%, 80%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Latin mappa, cloth / napkin — past-participle of map. As a color modifier, mapped implies a clear-and-cartographic-and-surveyed quality, the crisp color of Ordnance-Survey-and-USGS scientific-and-cadastral cartographic-and-topographic mapping-and-projection. Anglicized from the Tamil kari — sauce — and applied to a vast family of South and Southeast Asian dishes whose color comes principally from turmeric, the rhizome of Curcuma longa. The color refers to a yellow Madras-style curry sauce: a saturated, slightly red-shifted yellow with the dusty surface of spice powder suspended in liquid. Warmer than mustard, deeper than goldenrod, with the kitchen warmth of curcumin pigment.
