Khaki

#d5c58a
Notes

Khaki (#D5C58A) is a true amber with an earthy character. It leans grounded and natural, the kind of color that plays well with wood, clay, linen, and warm neutrals. Its HSL profile (47°, 47%, 69%) places it in the balanced band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel. The dusty-olive tan of military field uniforms — what designers (and Figma's default palette) use as 'khaki'. Named from the Urdu 'khākī' (dusty, earth-colored), the color of the British Indian Army's uniforms from the 1840s onward. CSS's canonical `khaki` keyword (#f0e68c) sits much paler and yellower, closer to straw than to uniform cloth.
