Kindled Edomurasaki
Kindled Edomurasaki (#C883ED) is a soft indigo with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (279°, 75%, 72%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. Etymology
Old Norse kynda, to set on fire — past-participle of kindle. As a color modifier, kindled implies a saturated-and-newly-lit quality, the bright color of autumn-bonfire-and-stove-fire initial-combustion emission. Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to ignited and aflame in usage.
Edo-period purple (江戸紫) — the deep blue-tinted purple popularized by Edo-period (1603–1867) Tokyo townsfolk and kabuki actors, distinguished from the warmer Kyoto kyō-murasaki.
