Engraved Kihada
Engraved Kihada (#C1E284) is a true lime with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (81°, 62%, 70%) places it in the balanced band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. Etymology
Old French engraver, to dig in — past-participle of engrave. As a color modifier, engraved implies a clear-and-precisely-cut quality, the crisp color of Albrecht-Dürer-and-Hogarth hand-pulled engraving-print fine-line incised-image. Sits at the crisp-and-incised end of the grid, parallel to etched and inscribed in usage.
Phellodendron amurense, the Amur cork tree — and the bright yellow inner bark used as a Japanese textile dye and traditional medicine. Kihada-iro refers to the saturated yellow of kihada-dyed silk. The color refers to fresh kihada-bark powder: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow with the matte finish of plant-derived pigment. Cooler than turmeric.
