Stamped Sunstone (#A45701) is a deep orange with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (32°, 99%, 32%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English stempan, to stamp — past-participle of stamp. As a color modifier, stamped implies a clear-and-impressed-and-repeating quality, the crisp color of William-Morris-and-Liberty-of-London block-printed-textile carefully-impressed pattern. Sits at the crisp-and-printed end of the grid, parallel to printed and engraved in usage.
A feldspar variety with copper-mineral inclusions that scatter light into a flickering orange-red sheen. Mined principally in Oregon (the only US state with sunstone as official gem) and Norway. The color refers to a polished Oregon sunstone cabochon: a saturated, slightly red orange with the optical complexity of light scattering off internal copper plates. Warmer than citrine.
