Spectral Amalfi
Spectral Amalfi (#A39A10) is a true yellow with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (56°, 82%, 35%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Latin spectrum, appearance — adjectival suffix -al. As a color modifier, spectral implies a saturated-and-rainbow-decomposed-and-pure quality, the bright color of Newton-prism sunlight-decomposed seven-color spectrum band. Sits at the bright-and-pure end of the grid, parallel to prismatic and pure in usage.
The Italian Mediterranean coast — and the lemon-yellow of Amalfi Sfusato lemons (twice the size of common lemons, used in limoncello). Amalfi refers to a fresh Sfusato lemon at midday on the Tyrrhenian coast: a saturated, slightly cool yellow with the satin finish of citrus rind. Brighter than limone.
