From the Greek elektron, amber — the substance whose static-electric properties were observed by Thales of Miletus. Sicalis flaveola, the saffron finch of South American grasslands and now naturalized in Hawaii. Males are bright yellow with orange foreheads. The color refers to a male saffron finch: a saturated, slightly red yellow with the matte finish of dietary-pigmented feathers. Warmer than weaver.
