Reinforced Russet
Reinforced Russet (#972E01) is a deep orange with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (18°, 99%, 30%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin re- plus inforce — past-participle of reinforce. As a color modifier, reinforced implies a saturated-and-doubled-up-and-strengthened quality where the hue carries layered pigmentation for maximum visual presence. From the Old French rousset, reddish-brown. A medieval term for the coarse, undyed wool of peasant cloth — the natural red-brown of the local fleece. The color now refers to autumn foliage, the skin of a russet potato, the rust-stained sandstone of the American southwest. Earthier than rust, drier than mahogany; the red of October.
