Lionhearted Kohbai
Lionhearted Kohbai (#8C1273) is a deep magenta with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (312°, 77%, 31%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Old English lēona-heorte, lion's-heart — referring to Richard I Lionheart (1157–1199). Japanese 紅梅, red plum-blossom (Prunus mume var. kohbai) — the deep-pink-flowered cultivar of Japanese plum, a traditional New Year color in Heian-period kasane no irome layered silks.
