Crypted Rubellite
Crypted Rubellite (#880515) is a deep red with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (353°, 93%, 28%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek kryptē, hidden chamber — past-participle of crypt. As a color modifier, crypted implies the deep-and-funereal-and-architectural quality of medieval European cathedral-and-basilica royal-crypt-chamber underground architecture, particularly the Saint-Denis and Westminster-Abbey royal-funerary tradition. Sits at the deep-and-funereal end of the grid, parallel to sepulchral and tomblike.
