Stately Sake
Stately Sake (#878F02) is a deep yellow with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. An adjectival form of state, condition of dignity. Used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for the deep saturated jewel tones of formal ceremony — the deep blue of a robes-of-state, the deep red of a state-banquet velvet. The Japanese rice wine — fermented from polished rice and used in religious offerings, weddings, and the kanpai toast. Sake color refers to fresh-poured junmai sake in a masu cedar box: a soft, slightly cool pale yellow with the optical clarity of grain-fermented alcohol. Cooler than mead.
